A meal for children in Year 3 to Year 6 costs £2.65 per day, unless your child is eligible for Free School Meals.
Free school meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at state schools in England automatically get free school meals. However, parents and guardians are still encouraged to apply for free school meals when you enrol your child in school, as this can help our school to attract additional ‘pupil premium‘ funding to support your child's learning.
From Year 3 onwards, children whose parents are in receipt of the following are entitled to free school meals:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Children who receive any of the above benefits in their own right (i.e. they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get free school meals.
You can now apply online for Free School Meals & receive an instant decision. It is the applicants responsibility to inform the school of the outcome.
We do have children with severe nut allergies and ask that no nuts or food with obvious nut content are brought into school.
Children in Key Stage 1 are currently in receipt of free fruit and vegetables for morning break.
Fruit, vegetables and cheese may be brought into school as a snack. Please provide your child with their own water bottle.
Sweets, crisps or biscuits should not be brought to school for snacks.
